Drove for an hour to visit here today only to find the tiniest of signs saying they were closed todsy due to ice. I wouldn't of minded but I had a very upset little boy who was very disappointed. Would recommend ringing before you set out.
I Stumbled across this place while travelling with work, just seen the road sign and thought I would pop in on the off chance. There are a mixture of planes dating from the 70s, some indoors and some out. As I entered I was told that they are about to have a tour of the Vulcan, a plane I always admired at the airshows. What I did not expect is actually sitting in the cockpit and being told stories of how life was like flying these planes. As it was during school term it was only the two off us being shown around which meant plenty of time, we must of been in the cockpit listening for 30 minutes as he would talk about all the bits and pieces. A great experience and something I had longed to do ever since I seen the Vulcan fly. Thank you.
Amazing experience as an aircraft buff. I remember playing with aircraft models as a kid... However seeing them in scale is an experience par excellence. Do spend sometime with the veterans to understand their insight and to truly experience the reality of being in the airforce...
Very interesting place to visit, me and my mum spent around 2 hours there. There are plenty of planes, many I have not heard of before, so it's a bit different than going to the major museums with the famous aircraft.
Excellent private museum with some great exhibits. Intelligently assembled collection. Friendly staff. Pleasant cafe on site. Good selection of models to purchase in the shop.
