Could have been a lot better. There seems to be little or no logic to the layout or timeline.
There is a lot of decent information, but it's not very interactive which really limits how enjoyable it can be. Better for young people.
Looks small from the outside. But full of excellent quality displays and interesting historical items. Kids and adults can dress up. Feel the weight of a musket. Worth a visit. Poor signage.. Thank you councils
Excellent National museum. Every piece of Civil War infomation available. Well shot films using Newark locations. Marvellous documentary on Surgeons at War. Local history nicely covered. Food in bar very well presented. Coverage and interest for children catered for well. Parking opposite. Rest of town a real gem.
A must visit if going to Newark. Good value for money as lots to see and do. Allow a couple of hours. My teenage kids particularly enjoyed dressing up as royalists and round heads..a fascinating look at one of the darkest periods in England's history..it was a fine way to spend my birthday.
