Pretty venue. Very good food. Nice staff

I was there on a wreath making course prior to Christmas. The course was run independently of Kelham House but a buffet was provided by Kelham House. To be clear, I am reviewing my experience of Kelham House and the services it provides ie the buffet and NOT the wreath making course. Impressive grounds and building with comfortable facilities. However, the buffet provided left very little to be desired and was very disappointing. I understand that it was meant to be a light supper and was therefore basic but the quality and presentation was very poor. The best thing about it were the egg sandwiches. Nothing looked appetizing. The pizza 'cracked' when i heard someone bite into it, it was so dry and overcooked so I left that for fear of breaking a tooth. There was a small bowl of chips, a plate of salad and a bowl of couscous but nothing to serve them with and no one came into the room to ask if everything was ok or if we needed anything whilst i was in the room. Basic food can be very good if prepared and presented well; along with the required utensils to serve them.Based upon my experience I wouldn't recommend eating there. Even if the chef wasn't there that evening someone should take responsibility in ensuring standards are maintained. It wasn't just my opinion, I heard similar comments from others in the group. It's a shame, maybe it was just the wrong evening to be there

Quite expensive I seem to remember, but they let us charge the car and bring our dog in and served a very nice breakfast. Room was clean comfortable and spacious. Friendly service.

Been here a few times and always been impressed. However we went for afternoon tea in June and service was well below par. We didn't feel looked after had to ask for extra hot water and our cake/sandwich stands weren't taken away so we had to move them ourselves to an empty table. Left feeling underwhelmed. The afternoon tea we had 1 year before was far superior and staff were far more attentive

Stayed overnight at wedding Poor service, lack of staff Breakfast cold had to ask for items to be heated up, very poor customer service. The wedding meal was spoilt by not having enough staff to cope, this made everything run late. The wedding cake was not cut. And the evening guests were starting to arrive shambles. So the bar staff could not cope with the extra Amount of guests as the main room was been cleared for the evening. Its a real shame because the venue is in a great setting. But if you use poorly trained staff and agency staff. You will be found out.If there had been a manager on duty this morning i would of asked for refund.
